King Avocado – Creamy avocado shakes with gula melaka

If you’re talking about drinks, avocado shakes are the reigning king here. There are three dedicated stalls that make these avocado drinks, and Avocado King usually has the longest queue amongst them. A lot of joggers from the nearby Hort Park and hiking trails can be seen stopping by for a quick refreshing shake before continuing on their way.

King Avocado  is a fruit juice bar, with a range of other fruit juices in addition to avocado shakes. A cup of avocado shake is $3, and it comes blended with milk and gula melaka. You can request for no ice or no milk for your shake, with an additional cost. The smooth and creamy shake had a distinct avocado taste, and the gula melaka adds a natural sweetness to the drink.

Instead of gula melaka, you can also choose to add chocolate for $0.50. The chocolate syrup is drizzled into the cup instead of being blended in. The first mouthful was a bit jarring as the chocolate was not mixed in properly. The avocado and chocolate shake was much better when it was stirred properly, tasting more like a healthy chocolate smoothie.

While it might not be to everyone’s liking, I saw a couple of kids enjoying the chocolate-infused avocado drinks.
